I. PASSPORT INFORMATION
1. PASSPORT
According to the 2019 Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese Citizens (Law on Immigration), a passport (also known as passport) is a document owned by the State, issued by a competent Vietnamese agency. for Vietnamese citizens to use to exit, enter, and prove nationality and identity.
The new passport model is dark blue instead of green like before. On each page are typical images of landscapes, images of national sovereignty, and famous cultural heritage of the country. Languages in the passport include both Vietnamese and English. All content and images printed in the passport are made using modern technology to meet security requirements, prevent the risk of counterfeiting and meet ICAO standards.
The passport has all the basic information, including:
- Portrait
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- Sex
- Date and place of issue
- Nationality;
- ID card/CCCD number
- Symbols and numbers of immigration documents
- Expiration date, month, year;
- Positions and titles for diplomatic passports and official passports are in accordance with foreign affairs requirements.
Passport is used domestically and abroad as a form of identification, personal identification, and in some cases can replace ID card/CCCD.
Because it has full personal identification information, in some cases you lose your ID card or have not been issued a citizen ID card, you can use your passport instead to:
- Make transactions at the bank
- Request to re-issue a lost driver’s license
- Check-in procedures for domestic flights
- Go to the bank to withdraw money
Article 6: Law on Immigration of Vietnamese Citizens, there are 02 passport models including:
- Passport with electronic chip: only issued to people over 14 years old
- Passport without electronic chip: issued to all subjects
To distinguish it from passports without electronic chips, on the first cover page of passports with electronic chips, there is an electronic chip symbol. The electronic chip is placed on the back cover of the passport to store personal information and biometric information of the passport holder (including facial photo, fingerprints…) and digital signature of the passport-issuing agency. mat.
From March 1, 2023, the Ministry of Public Security will issue ordinary passports with electronic chips for Vietnamese citizens according to the Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese Citizens.
A passport with an electronic chip is a passport with an electronic device that stores encrypted information of the passport holder and the signature of the issuer.
Basic benefits of a passport with an electronic chip:
- Facilitate travel between countries that apply biometric recognition technology for passport control
- Helps holders receive priority when reviewing entry visas
- High information security because it is stored on a chip, so it is very difficult to copy information
- Creating a breakthrough in socio-economic development and enhancing the position of the Vietnamese passport, promoting Vietnam’s integration process in the region and the world
Tan Son Nhat International Airport has officially operated the automatic entry and exit control gate (Autogate).
