In the case of a commercial visa, applicants for visa extension also need to prepare:

  • Legal documents of the guarantee enterprise
  • Labor contract and temporary residence certificate issued by local police (for employees)
  • Investment certificate and employee introduction letter to complete procedures (for business owners)

For Vietnam investment visa extension, the investment visa extension application requires:

  • Certified copy of Business License/Investment License.
  • Seal sample registration certificate or Notice of posting information about the enterprise’s seal sample on the national business registration information portal; and Form NA16 –

    • Passport, valid temporary residence card/visa and work permit of the main employee in Vietnam.

After fully preparing the documents, people wishing to extend their visa should bring it to one of the above addresses to submit. Here, the officer receiving the documents will check the required documents. If missing, the receiving officer will guide the person submitting additional documents. If all documents are complete, the application will be received for processing. After the application is received, the person applying for visa extension will be issued an appointment letter.

The application will then be reviewed by the competent authority. Processing time at the Immigration Department is from 7 to 10 days. If the application meets the requirements, the results will be returned to the applicant on the date stated in the appointment letter.
